Victorian Large 15kt Garnet & Enamel Foxtail Fringe Pendant
A fabulous garnet pendantĀ from the Victorian (ca1880) era! This eye-shaped pendant is made of 15kt yellow gold (indicating English origin) and isĀ detailed with gorgeous hand-etched details and navy and white enamel. Resting inĀ the center of the piece is a very large cabochon garnet, which is bezel set and surroundedĀ by a gold rope wire border. Dangling from the base is a lovely foxtail fringe comprised ofĀ 17 chain tassels and spears, which hangĀ from a hingedĀ "V" shaped bar. At the top of the piece isĀ fluted bail decorated with fine beadwork accents. This wonderful pieceĀ makes a dramatic statement and would look beautiful worn on a favorite gold chain. It would make an impressive addition to any collection!
Measurements:Ā The pendant hangs approximately 3 1/2" long, is 1 3/8" at the widest point and has a depth of 3/4". The garnet measures 3/4" tall, a little more than 1/2" wide and has a depth of 3/8".
Condition:Ā The overall condition of the pendant is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, thereĀ is no apparent damage to the gold setting or garnet cabochon. The enamel is free of chips or scratches, and the bail and dangling spears are intact and secure.
